Education

We aim to inspire reading literature, listening to music and understanding it, therefore we create quality content that offers a learning and educational process based on the richness of our unique collection in various formats. This is a different learning experience that not only complements the curriculum studied at school, but by establishing a path to the museum as a modern place of discovery and socialization, strengthens awareness of culture as fundamental values for the nation’s existence.

Our educational sessions are designed so that everyone gains new emotional experience, information and practice that develops creativity, imaginative thinking, encourages interpretation, expression of opinions and discussion.

The museum pedagogical program is developed for students of different ages. We ensure that knowledge is acquired in a form appropriate and engaging for each age group. We care about an inclusive approach-based offer, taking into account the individualities of each group’s participants, their prior knowledge and interests.

All sessions are included in the “Latvijas skolas soma” (Latvian School Bag) program.

Educational sessions are available both in-person and remotely.

We welcome you to visit us: at Mārstaļu Street 6, at the Museum Repository at Pulka Street 8, and at our permanent exhibition “Song Festival Space” located at Mežaparks Grand Stage.

We also conduct outreach sessions outside Riga – to educational institutions, libraries, cultural centers, thus expanding the significance of museum perception. In outreach sessions, the museum comes to visitors, bringing along objects used in the sessions, and also becomes a visitor itself, together gaining valuable experience exchange.

In addition to sessions, we offer literary walks, to which we invite everyone interested in the traces of poets and writers in Riga. The literary walk season runs from April to October, during which the walks are organized both for groups of up to 30 participants by prior registration and as public events open to all visitors.
