Conservation
To preserve museum objects for future generations, conservators work at the museum.
They are highly skilled professionals who restore manuscripts, printed materials, photographs, paintings produced in various techniques, and other museum objects.
A discovery of a century from 2010 during construction was letters and notebooks of writer Zenta Mauriņa. Thanks to conservators’ efforts, letters – stored underground in a metal box since 1944 and damaged by rust and moisture – have been restored as museum objects.
Conservators monitor the condition of museum objects daily, caring for their preservation—through conservation and restoration.
